The spirals were present on the back, but that's fine - it works!įor another game, I used a new set of buffing/polishing/cleaning discs, T-cut (car polish) as a substitution for included white paste and IPA rubbing alcohol as a cleaning compound. The disc didn't work the first time, so I repeated the process 6 (yes, six) times and the game was readable again. One of them I put through the standard, stock product that includes the original cleaning set. So, for comparison, I had two PlayStation 2 games that weren't working on my system. I bought two sets of cleaning discs to try different polishing pastes. Overall a simple home machine, just don’t expect miracles. If you want to maintain a collection and are not trying to remove actual damage, this is a good machine, only bumped the marks due to two small annoyances:-Ģ - the drawer will only hold the yellow and blue pads, you can’t put any other combination in, it would be better if I could store any pads I wanted rather than having to put in the ones I may use most. This machine means I know the discs I’m putting in my CD player (a 3K investment) are clean and are not going to be spinning a load of crap into my machine. I have loads of CDs and am always looking for new additions and they come from all sorts of places and include new and second hand discs. What it does do is remove all the dirt and crap that builds up in the scratches and breaks the read path off the laser.įor light scuffs, fingerprints and general dirt and grime it does the trick. If your discs are badly scratched, they will still be badly scratched after you use this. The key thing with this is it is a small domestic unit and it is for reconditioning NOT repairing. So I was sceptical buying this as the reviews are really hit and miss.Ĭan’t currently state on build quality, but it has a years warranty so any problems it will go back as any appliance would.
